I'm having trouble finding a windshield mounted rear-view mirror for my 58' CJ-5. Does anyone have pictures of what they look like? Thanks!

I'm not sure if they were the same in '58, but here's a couple of pictures of a '70/'71 mirror.

you could always go to your FLAPS and get a glue on one.....

i dont plan on running one, as i want the windshield folded down. no need to have it sticking up where it could get broke... Your only required by law to have a side view. and i can't think of any blind spots a jeep with no rollbar, roof, etc will have. Couple of sides will do just fine for me.

Come to think of it, ive never seen an old cj with those mirrors......

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

I have a split glass vinted ws. The mirror mounted on a bolt that also held the center section tight to the upper frame.

    Here is a pict:

FWIW, I think, from the research I have done, is my WS was orgionally on a canadian military cj.

I bought one on ebay thinking it would fit my CJ-5. It was listed as an "early" CJ-5 mirror, but it doesn't fit correctly. It looks like the one that Zoomer has posted. There are two holes at the top of my windshield frame similar to what can be seen in aallison's picture, but the mirror that I bought does not line up with these holes.

Since I'd rather not drill holes into my frame, I'll probably just buy a stick-on mirror until I can find an original.

    Weren't none.

The '59 parts manual doesn't list any inside mirror at all. The '67 manual lists a "kit", p/n 671167, including an instruction sheet, two 1/4"-20x1/2", two nuts, two lock washers, a bandaid &, oh yeah, a mirror. :)

A google search turns up mirrors under that p/n that may or may not match the original units -

Anyhooo- as it was a kit that showed up sometime after the first few years production I'm guessing that , due to the inclusion of the instruction sheet (and bandaid), the mounting holes would not be in the frame from the factory & would need to be gnawed out by the installer.

Nope, they have the wrong part number. The outside mirror kit is p/n 816295, 818579 if you wanted chrome.

Well that would explain why I can't seem to find one. I did find a couple pictures of an interior mirror from a 60' Willys truck. The pictures are from an auction listed on ebay. It looks like it would fit my windshield frame.
