I have a Service Manual for 1953 through 1971 that I got from Willys Overland, Its been good..... I also have a Haynes and it is not as good as the Service Manual. The number for Willys Overland is 888-265-5337. They have been very good to me.

    Jan,
Welcome. I would also recommend the following reference book:
Jeep Cj Rebuilder's Manual, 1946-1971: Mechanical Restoration Unite Repair and Overhaul Performance Upgrades for Jep CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, CJ-5 and CJ-6 and MB, M38, and M38A1 (Paperback) by Moses Ludel. I got mine from Amazon for $40.
My 1966 CJ5 has the serial number 8305A 200976, if that is any help to you.

    Best regards,
    Keith

The service manual is worth it's hefty price tag to me.. it's a pretty good book but you have to improvise on some of the items due to not having all the phansy pants tools and stuff that the dealers had back in the day and have all since disappeared.
