How to keep mirror from vibrating

    Does any one know How to keep mirror from vibratin. I a mirror set made by Omix Ada and the mirror vibrates baddly. I'm thinking of putting the orginal one back on- the glass was old and hard to see behind you but it did not vibrate badly..... please give me suggestions.

    I've never seen a rearview mirror on a Jeep that didn't vibrate...

    its actually a side mirror, but I also have a question about the rear view mirror. I ordered a replacement and the bolt pattern did not match up. I drilled two of the holes bigger so I could get it held down by two bolts. Was there a bracket that went between the windshield housing and the rearview mirror. Oh this is on a '69

    I was actually talking about side mirrors. My windshield mirror doesn't vibrate too bad...

    same here. I think it's the fact that smaller gauge metal is used for the tub vs. the oem ones.

    I took the glass out of my aftermarket mirror and siliconed it on top of the original mirror. It looks real good and only I new until now!

    Possible the import mirrors are made of thinner metal than the original, which lets the mirror head jiggle more. You could try buying a different universal mirror head from a name brand supplier like Grote or such: http://www.grote.com/prodcat/M.html All the Grote stuff should be available at your FLAPS or local RV supply.

    The pre-74 mirrors do vibrate though. I think the circular mirrors were the worst for this; the rectangular mirrors on my '73 were ok, and the plastic-bodied smoothed-square type introduced in '74 or '75 are better.

    I will say - SSDutch came with the square later model mirrors.

    I never would have bought them myself because they don't look very old-school, but after having them I'd never go back. They still vibrate but overall are way more useful than the round early mirrors.

    Having a passenger-side mirror is way cool as well.

    Doesn't it depend on where the mirror mounts, also?
    Mine is bolted to the windshield hinge. And I don't pay much attention to the vibration. Probably from riding motorcycles for the last 30 or so years.

    My tub has a mount point in front of the windshield also.
