Does anyone know the correct factory option side steps for a 1978 CJ5 and where I can buy a set?

    Thanks

My old '78 CJ7 I used to have had the short (6-8" lg.) black steps. Try local auto salvage yards.

I think the Jeep # for the kit was J8997433
when they appear on ebay, they go for $$

Looks like the dealership license plate frame is still on it.

Why not just use a set for the earlier cj5? They are available in a lot of places and will bolt to the frame for added support?

I think he's going Resto and probably wants the year correct part. Awesome CJ though, very cool !!! So that's what mine's "supposed" to look like.

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

I think I have a set on an old tub. They have been bent and folded back a few times but at least it's a start.

Let me know if you're interested.

Yes, the roll bar is white and was painted by the dealer when bought new.

I do want the correct steps. This is an original un-restored CJ from Cal with 42,000 miles. The top is original as well. This CJ5 was just documented as a reference CJ for those who are interested in restoring to original standards.

I was very luckly to find her.
