Repairing an inner windshield frame

    Has anyone done this instead of buying a new one? I picked up this W/S frame for $25 this weekend and the lower drivers corner of the inner frame, and the lower part of the center brace need repaired. Other then that the inner is solid, I plan to move it all over to my outer frame. If you repaired it what kind of stock did you use? Is there a place I can buy small pieces to repair it? Where is the best place to get the seal?

    Are you talking about ththe sheet metal or the tubing?

    The inner frame that holds the glass. This one the sheet and tubing are poopier then the one that is on the jeep now, so I am taking this inner frame and putting it on my existing outer frame. The seal I would be looking for is the one that seals the inner to the outer frame.

    This inner frame has 2 snall crusty spots.

    I think mine has the same problem but I haven't looked into it yet. I'd try to sand it to bare metal, and then use a filler (led) and level it out.
    There may be an "easier" way though.

    I looked high and low to find an inner frame that was in better shape than the one I had, but in the end I just sanded mine down and went with it.

    The only thing I found that was even close to the same stock was an inner w/s frame from an M-35 (deuce and a half) that could be cut down and welded in to replace roached out sections.

    Repro inners are available, but they are $pendy.

    This is exactly my problem... inners in MI are hard to find, overall this frame the outer is worse then mine, but my inner is non-existant. This inner is fairly good except for ~8" on the lower drivers side corner. I want to fix this as I have heard the re-pop inner isn't very good.

    I may just sand it and see how bad it is... The center brace I can lead, but the lower left corner I may have to get creative.

    The bottoms rot out the worst, mebbe you could find another one with a roached-out bottom and combine parts of the two?

    The top 6-8" of the uprights are usually saveable..
