hood blocks

What color are the hood blocks supposed to be? Body color? Black? Stained wood?

 

I've seen them black and ones that look like the just had clear on them. The ones I've had were oak...hard for some folks to cover the grain with anything but clear. I 've seen old photos most black but lately some restored ones with them natrual. I would expect they got to be body color over the years mostly though repaints.

 

yep turtles is green, but you can see the black underneath the green paint...

i kinda like them wood color myself...
