    Hello everyone.
Sorry for my bad English :blah:
I'm experiencing a problem with my front axle, probably a Dana 25 or 27 since it has closed knuckles and 11590 Timken knuckle bearings.
It's on my '62 Willys wagon but the problem doesn't seem to be related to the model and can be occurred in any other front Dana-27.
I replaced my upper and lower knuckle bearings and seals, drove the car about 4000 miles without any issues, also changed the spring bushings and a cracked leaf as well 1000 miles ago!

    But here's the problem:
from about a month ago, I've been hearing a slight squeaking noise sometimes while turning to left or right. and it became louder and almost after spinning the steering wheel half a round, but not when I push the front bumper down or in bumps; only when steering.
I jackstanded the front of the car below the leafs to keep the weight on them, turned to both directions and the sound can be touched and heard thru the knuckle.
Can anyone please tell me what could the problem be?
and how serious this thing is..

slight squeaking … does it sound like a dry bearing. May be the kingpin bearings ? Mine were worn out and didn’t make much noise.

or is it a howling squeak that gets louder that faster, like may be a dry wheel bearing or a universal on the axle in the ball… ?

does the vehicle feel like it pulls to one side or the other as you drive a straight line?

can you post a an audio clip or video clip that has the noise (youtube works pretty good for such).

my old rigs had so many squeaks and rattles i couldn't isolate a single one, so i just turned up the radio after making sure all the maintenance was good.

New kingpin bearings and greased? Did you put knuckle pudding back in? If so, the front axle needs to be engaged at times to sling the grease to the upper bearing.
The knuckle seal could also be dragging and cause noise.

    Thanks everyone for replies
I opened the knuckle up the other day and found my upper knuckle bearing (Timken 11590) totally destroyed due to over tightening done by a previous mechanic.
The cone was ok and somehow unscratched but the bearing was only worth it's weight of metal :D
I replaced and calibrated the tolerance and I'm all good  rsz_img_7987.jpg
