I am swapping my Carter crapola 1v carburetor to the Motorcraft 2v ( barrel ). I have an ‘82 or ‘84 intake/ exhaust set I’ve purchased and am deleting all of the unneeded sensors and attachments for a nice clean install. I’ve searched for threads on the subject but can’t find any including this detail. I’m sure it’s been covered but I’m putting in the wrong words or phrases. Anyone have suggestions on correctly entering a query or, better yet a thread or 2 I can do my research by? I know timgr can learn me. BTW it’s a 258. Thanks all.

I am prepping to do this same basic install on my CJ6.
I have a cast iron 2bbl manifold from an 80' CJ7. It has the tall bolt saddles so I will not have to change the exhaust manifold or pipe routing.
Looking forward to seeing how your project goes, I am a week or two out on getting started with my swap.

I did it on my Jeep. The carb I bought on eBay with the adapter. Let me check my eBay account and report back.

I plan on posting pics of the swap. I have all of the parts accept the carb I want. Some of the information I’m looking for pertains to the smog related hardware that won’t be needed for my application. I want to keep the water temp. Sensor that assists with cold starting but I’m not sure which one it is. The there is a diaphragm on the intake where the carb is mounted that I don’t know if I need and several other implements I may or may not need to utilize on the intake. So was thinking there may be some posts relative to “preping” the manifold. Any past experiences on this anyone could divulge would be greatly appreciated. Again, to all thanks.

Wow! This is the first time I've been ghosted and excomunicated (it would seem) by the community. No feedbaack at all on this? Surely someone out there has a link they could share on removing all the uneeded nuts, bolts and assorted scrapp metal on the Intake that could be used for say fishing weights? I'm cincerned mainly with a round sensor looking thing inside the intake, bolted up just under the carb/underside the intake. It looks kinda like Porcupine qhils, like it may difuse/atomize the fuel or something. Lots of other trash on this thing also. Anyone???

I mean, this is an "early CJ-5" forum. Most of us don't know anything about AMC inline sixes. We're mostly about Buick V-6s and F134s. There are intermediate owners on the forum, but they are not the majority.

Yeah, but I read about this swap on this forum and my computer says I'm on the "Intermediate CJ... forum". I realize I'm not in the "majority"
but I usualy get tons of responses so hence the surprise. Oh well I'll keep serching.

One of the best "Intermediate" posters, TIMGR has not been around for awhile. It will take a bit of searching on other forums to
acquire the engine/transmission information for these years.

That adapter looks similar to what's on my `85 CJ7 4.2 with a Weber, except my adapter is actually two. Not sure why Weber did it that way but just recently I discovered mine had vibrated completely loose. Hard starting and poor idle to say the least.

I like my Weber, it was installed by a previous owner, but I'm curious if a 2100 might be better.

I also saw a YT vid where a guy took his Weber off and installed a Carter BBD knockoff. He claimed it was vastly superior. They're so inexpensive I'm tempted to try one out although now that my adapters are tightened up, my Jeep is running pretty good.

I'll be very interested to see how yours works out Charles.
