Does anyone here have any experience with the power top on a Commando? Mine doesn't work....it's fairly easy to operate by hand but it'd be really cool to have a functioning power top! There is power in & out of the switch, that's as far as my troubleshooting has gone. The thing is, I dont even know where the motor & pump are located! I have a Commando FSM but it has VERY little info on the convertible top.

Well, I found the answer. These are the plugged off hydraulic hoses under the driver seat where the pump originally was. It's long gone now, and replacements are close to $400. Guess I'll be operating it manually for awhile!

Is it just one hose that leads to one or two cylinders on the top?

There's 2 hoses where the pump was, they've been spliced together to form a loop. The top has a hydraulic cylinder on each side.

So it's just like a semi lift gate.

Find a Mustang convertible in the junkyard (maybe only found here in Florida?). I nabbed one from an early ‘90s (?) Mustang, and it interchanges close enough for my ‘66 Chevelle. The pump assy was located in the trunk up against the back seat. Probably most domestic convertibles would be donors. I’m sure your original pump wasn’t unique to Kaiser Jeep.
