Who makes the best kit to renew my drag links and bell crank (aside from the tapered bearing project).

    omix, crown, someone else?

I gave up on the bell crank kits, they're all sloppy, and went with tapered.

For the drag links I ended up re-using the stock cups- the new ones just didn't fit properly.

I just went with the 1st Gear Offroad part.
Was a little spendy, but a nice part.

The only Omix-ADA bell crank kit I ever had in my hands would not fit, and was poor quality. Crown is most likely the same thing, a lot of their parts are branded "Rugged Ridge" which translates to Omix-ADA.

I have a bell crank rebuild kit which is good quality. I bought it from QTM, but when I couldn't find a good worm shaft for the Ross box I decided to go with a Saginaw box I had laying around.

It is made for the later bell cranks used late 48 and onwards, and is the same as on my 67 CJ5. These kits cost $27 plus shipping from QTM. You can have this one for $20 plus shipping if you want it.

Joe DeYoung, a member on the CJ2A Page forum makes a very good drag link repair kit, and he can also rebuild a bell crank with worn balls. The parts and tools he makes are top drawer.

I see two on their site: fc-150 and fc-170 - do they correlate to shaft size?

The FC-150 part works with our CJ's.
The FC-170 puts the ball on the passenger side

He's been enjoying retirement with that big motorcoach. I think he needs to have a mobile machine shop in tow.

Sorry but you're mistaken. Rugged Ridge is Omix-Ada's brand/line, Crown is completely separate and doesn't sell or relabel with them. They are competing companies but generally from different sources / manufacturers. Many other companies private label the Crown kits, though (but not as Rugged Ridge or Omix).

    Interesting
Omix-ada is a realtruck brand per the omix site.
    https://www.omixparts.com/

Rugged Ridge and alloyusa are under omix per the rugged Ridge site.
    https://ruggedridge.com/about-us/

Crown is on there own per there site
    https://www.crownautomotive.net/about-crown.html

But if you buy parts there are a bunch that use the same part numbers and ship in bags with both Crown and Omix labels.

I know for some things the parts are different but a lot of the stuff is the same manufacturers (factories in who knows where) remember there isn't just one site making all the stuff.

I may be mistaken about the bell crank kits, but "Crown" just don't mean the same quality it once meant. I have gotten parts from "Crown" that were from India, and China that were sub par.

I avoid both Crown and Omix parts if at all possible.
