Doesn't everyone keep a tow bar in there wife's trunk to drag yer broke jeep home?

Seriously If I see it in time to stop I'm about 2 min away from a new jeep whenever I'm with her. The absolute worst thing to do is tell yer wife to load up a dozen kids and you need xyz from the garage.

So let me get this straight, you jump in your your jeep to run to Home Depot, you get there pop the hood do the battery disconnect, flip 15 hidden switches, etc., then go run in and get whatever, then come out lift the hood to flip the battery disconnect and the other 15 kill devices, and drive to the grocery store to get the few things the wife texted you to get while your out, park, lift hood, disconnect battery and the 15 kills, go get the groceries, come back out, lift the hood, and flip the 15 hidden switches, just to remember you also need to stop by Walmart, rinse and repeat. What the hell kind of places do you guys live?

On my CJ I have a hood lock. I also turn my steering wheel wrap a chain through it and around the cage. This seems to work well. On My M38 I chain the steering wheel to the seat frame.

With an RFID fob required for ignition and in my case a tubular pin tumbler lock and a keyed battery cut off its about 30 seconds at most (all assessable from driver seat). None can easily be reached from behind to circumvent. Locked hood and cowl battery box as well.
I think most every car can be hot wired (early jeeps more easy than most) - its about slowing them down so it increases the time it takes to do so before being noticed by others (and hopefully reported).

    Flat-bedding or towing is 5minutes?

I guess that is why I just leave the keys in the ignition. If my jeep gets stolen it would piss me off but it would not be the end of the world. If something happened to my dog while I was in shopping it would be!

Where I live, most criminals are relatively young gang members. They’re not interested in old Jeeps and I doubt any of them could drive a stick. while I haven’t purposely installed any sort of theft deterrent, the PO had the fuel pump connected via a toggle switch and the keyed ignition was broken so he bypassed it to a push button. I put in a new keyed ignition switch, but kept the push button. So you need to simultaneously twist and push to start. I usually keep the fuel pump switch in the “on” position, because I’m lazy.

probably the biggest risk is that someone would try to siphon my gas or steal my Jerry can. But those crimes are normally committed by tweakers, of which we thankfully don’t have many locally.

Electric fuel pump with kill switch. If the jeep has been run recently it will not get you out of a grocery store parking lot before it dies.
Master Disconnect on the Neg side of the Battery No jumping the starter unless its engaged
4 shift levers 3 of which have a neutral
Hard top with very expensive industrial cabinet type locks (you have to go back to the co for a new key they can not be opened from the inside Plus the regular door lock
Abrasion resistant Poly carbonate Windows 1/4" thick 50 times harder to break then glass I have seen a piece of this stuff resist a 2lb hammer blow repeatedly the window had a 12" square 2x6 frame it was attached to.
If I want to get really anal I also have a fuel shut off valve right below the tank
    Locking Gas Cap
Locking lugs on a wheel with a bolt pattern that doesn't fit anything modern Plain Steel wheels
All radio gear hidden out of sight except the antennas
Gas can locked in such away that no Bolt cutter can get to the bail.
I'm planning on an E Brake locking collar so that when pulled out the collar wraps around the cane and will not allow it to be released.

The willingness to dig a hole in the middle of the night by hand if need be.

Best not mess with my Willys LOL

You need a MagnaVolt system. It won't even run down your battery:

A hidden spdt switch controlling a turn signal flasher in the ignition primary circuit.

A Carter YF will keep the motor from running without the proper pedal blip sequence and amount of choke application.
Remove starter and use the optional hand crank for proper bruised chin identification.
    Lastly lock your parking rock...

I like having a switch that connects the horn to the brake lights.

I have a "start" button in one of my vehicles that is hooked up to the horn. it's the only button/switch that has a label. haha I figure if someone is going to try and steal my vehicle, they will probably try the obvious first, the button labeled "start"

when ever I die, someone is going to have a fun time trying to figure out my vehicles :D

Apple Air Tags are cheap trackers they ping off iPhones. Work great. No subscription either.

I got them mounted on all the boats and equipment with these:
