Power Steering Pulley Alignment

Ok, so I'm in the midst of getting everything setup to do my saginaw swap, and got the aluminium bit of the "High Mount" power steering bracket from nickmil at the puyallup swap meet, and got the steel bits from a guy on fleabay. I have my suspicions that I may not have the right steel bits. Right now, the PS Pulley is lining up perfectly with the outer groove on my crank, and inner groove on my water pump. My Problem is, the alternator is using that same alignment......

Do I have the wrong bracket, or am I just not seeing something here? Please see the accompanying pictures.

The PS belt should be on the pulley "groove" closest to the block. It almost looks like the PS pulley is out too far from the pump...Mine measures - 1/2" between pulley and PS bracket.

Take those washers out from behind the PS motor mount.

If I take those washers out, I just end up crushing the bracket when I tighten it down. That's why I think I might have the wrong steel parts, which is causing the misalignment. The Pulley is fully seated on the pump shaft.

The motor mount bracket I have measures 2-1/2" between the PS brackets...Yours look a little shorter?

4-1/2" from outside of pulley to outside of PS bracket.

Move the washers to the opposite side?

Well I'll be jiggered. Pulled *all* the washers out, and everything went right in and lined up..... I would have *sworn* it was going to bend the hell out of the brackets without those washers in there, but nope.....

Follow-Up question, since I'm lazy and don't have any string, you happen to know what length belt you used?

You lazy B*stard...Get some string...I can get my arms down in there anymore. I'm reusing the belt I had.

Let me know when you find a good one that fits...I should replace mine and the parts girl couldn't find a good match when I took mine in.

On my Dauntless I have a Buick 350 PS pump and bracket. The bracket looks a little different than yours. I think my pump sits lower and closer to the fuel pump. Anyway, my belt is a Duralast 15385 (10A0980).
