    Me too...Thanks. :D

    It took one can. It'll sit like this for about a week or more. Waiting on valve cover and oil pan gaskets from RockAuto. I did that on purpose...It'll keep from being impatient and putting all back together too soon.

    noticed the baking soda on the drive way...

    I did that with carb parts in my back yard... there was a 10ft high bush in the background... and grass.

    Changed the PH too much I presume for them to be healthy as now I have bare dirt and no bush...

    Most excellent work in painting the motor. Can't wait to see the finished product. Until then stay tuned viewers, same Jeep channel and same Jeep time. :rofl:

    You and me both...It was a lot more work than I thought...But that's only because I'm hitting all the details, like wire wheel in the drill press for cleaning bolts and such.

    Nothing really to update...Trying not to speed through the details half a$$'d. Everything that has been painted has been curing/drying for almost 9 days.

    Meanwhile...Do you guys have an opinion on using gasket sealer like Permatex for the valve cover and oil pan gaskets? Also I've always just slipped on the radiator hoses dry...Does anyone use some sort of gook?

    I use black RTV when the gaskets don't seal perfect cause of malformed sheet metal. smear a little bit on both sides of a clean, new, unused gasket and then the sealing metal surfaces cleaned very well with laquer thinner or similar. I never put anything on hoses, always dry. I like that color paint on your engine. Its what i used and is not available at the local auto zone.

    you can also just smear anti-freeze on the inside just to lube it a bit. where ever you want the gasket to stay is where you put the rtv. valve covers i put the rtv on one side of gasket and attach to the covers. when you goto take them off in the future the gasket stays with the covers.

    Thanks...I usually use gasket sealant, but wanted to confirmation from the pros!

    Love the grey and flat black Focker . What kind of paint did you use ? Also was there a spring on your throw out bearing ????? How hard was it lining up with the trans and engine ?

    If you're talking about the body...it's flat green. Rustoleum self etching primer green.

    Engine - Dupli-Color "Pontiac Blue" DE1610...I love it and it was on the shelf locally!

    No spring.
    My son came over and we gingerly lined it up...Definitely easier with a good helper.

    That maybe true, but it will be your shiny :poo: and nobody can appreciate it more than the person who owns it. :p:rofl: The end result will be well worth it, especially if you look back to see from whence you began.
