Hey guys! I have been searching for a while and I can't find the breather for my rear Dana 44 anywhere. I found it on the front pretty easy but the rear is starting to annoy me. Thanks for any information given!

I drilled the diff cover (up high and on the right side) and installed a breather tube.

Look on the drivers side axle tube. Mine had a small hole that crusted over. Been a while but I welded it shut and put a real vent.

Me too. I drilled a hole in the axle tube and threaded in a brass nipple to run a length of hose from, up into the wheelwell.

Mine had the breather in the cover until I put in the Detroit Locker.(cover wouldn't fit.) Now it has that same fitting like yours.

I was never fond of the factory rear axle breather-just nothing there to really keep water or dirt out. I drilled/taped the top of the housing and ran a breather line to my fuel filler "garage" on my 3B and put a stainless steel sintered filter on the terminus.

The housing vent is the lower one here (the upper is the fuel tank vent/roll-over valve)

The vent is basically right up against the underside of the wheel well. End of sintered filter at upper right.

I installed 1/4" nipples on the front & rear axles as well as the xfer case & plumbed them all together with rubber fuel line that vents to the top of the engine compartment.
