rear 1955 cj5 bumper?

    were the cj5 bumpers on the 55 and early models off set as in one side is longer than the other im speculating that this was on purpose to accommodate for the licenses plate but still not sure. The body mount holes are the same on each side. Over all there is about 4inches short on the passenger side of the bumper.

    Technically that's the rear cross member, only a few special models of CJ's such as the tuxedo park units had actual rear bumpers. The military varients of course had the bumperettes.

    And yes the driver's side is longer to accommodate the license plate.

    Hmmm, never thought of it that way. I've always had the opposite thought of the right side being shorter because of the tailpipe exit.
