Hello, I am rather new to the forum, and I am building a 1958 CJ-6. I don't know if anyone would be interested in my buildup, so here are the specs. I started with a CJ6 that I am mainly using the rear axle, and transfer case from. Sold the F-head to some nice ppl from Jersey, and I am using a Buick 225 from the Commando that took me to my wedding years ago. Got an SM420 for behind that, and will use my old Dana 18. Building a 44 front axle, as well as a complete frame. I saved and deprived my family of many things to get an Aqualu body, which I wanted to put in my living room, but now is just waiting in the garage instead. To wind this tale up, would anyone be interested in following this build, or have you all just seen it before? I don't want to waste your time, but I'm pretty excited about this build. I've build a bunch of Jeeps over the years, but my kids are so excited over this one, that I can't help and be also.

Of course we'd follow it,,, but you MUST post lots of pics!!!!

Will do. I'd like to document this one from beginning to end anyway. I cut the pattern out for the frame a few days ago, will post that. Updates will come as cash to do things appears. Uh oh.....

Cool, an Aqualu CJ6! Not gonna see too many of those around. As Jim said, we will need pics.

OK, bear with me while I get the hang of this picture action. Here is the pic of the 58 I started with....

Frame Rails all mocked up. Now all I do is set up the old bandsaw in the corner according to the angles previously worked out in wood, get a pot of coffee brewing, and wait while the old girl cuts.

Shot of the Aqualu body. Boy, do I have to clean that side of the garage tomorrow. Welding up some IH fenders for a buddy's Travelall, using pieces of the Scout fender in the foreground. Thats our old M in the pic also. Last dyno pull was 73hp for anyone who was wondering. Up from 39 new.

OK, last pic for today. SM420, Dana 18, parts n pieces to have disc brakes n full floaters all around. And a bucket of oil for good measure. I hope I didn't bore you all into a coma. I promise some good metal working pics of the frame next week, if the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I hope I can move the show along, but money is kinda tight, and that crazy thing called work gets in the way of my recreation. lol

As long as you pop in to give us updates, even if you just say you've been busy, we appreciate it.

Do you think we're any different? We're all working and our funds are tight to, as long as you poke in and say hi so we know you're alive, we'll be looking forward to your build. :stout:

Yeah, I figure everyone is in the same boat. I'm excited by all the cool builds on here, and it makes me impatient to get more done on mine. Plus, I like when the family is all helping, its an extra good vibe in the garage then, even if my youngsters are slowing the process, its worth every extra minute. Theyre having fun with Mom and Dad, and thats what counts. Plus, the '6 will be that much cooler for them when we go 'wheeling. Cause they helped.

Cleaned up the SM420, priming it tonight, will post pics tomorrow all painted. Resealed gaskets too.

keep the updates and pics coming :-D

Looking forward to seeing the end product! it was nice when i came up to get the engine and got to see all your stuff, your tub is truly a work of art, maybe i'll have a thread up once i put the engine in my cj5 and start fixing it!
