Jeepster VIN Numbers

How about the Jeepster crowd post their VIN's and dates of manufacture if known. I followed the sticky for cj5's, and my VIN seems to line up with those, but that sticky is just for the '5's.
Mine is registered as a 1970, VIN 8705F1761522. If I fit it into the the
5's it looks like an early-mid 1969 build. My title also says Kaiser.

Spoon's '71 from his profile - 8705F17076193

Since he may or may not pop in here. :)

Thanks for the sticky Sparky. A guy on a local forum asked me some questions tonight, and it got me thinking about this. His is:

58842

I'll make sure he posts the DOM, he has all the original stickers under the hood, in the door, and glovebox door...

If you guys want, I could probably add your VIN info into the document we have going in the early 5 section. I'd need someone to collect the VIN info for me though....

If ya want to keep posting the vins here or pass by PM, I can add another page to my worksheet for the Jeepster folks.

Could do the same for the intermediates if there is enough interest...

I'd like to see it done, if that has any influence in the matter. ;)

Thanks for posting this up and helping me find my way here Paul. My full VIN is 8705F1758842, from what I've seen I think his guess is correct for 1969, but they do seem to jump around a bit.

I know a guy that's been collecting VIN's for the past four or five years. He's talking about selling off his Jeepsters and getting into MG's so I don't know what he's doing with his data base. I'm hoping to see him in October when we go to North Carolina so I'll ask him what he's doing with it.

Re: Where's My VIN? (New VIN Project, Please Help Out)

No sure if my commando numbers are of use to you but here it goes.

1. VIN #? j2A87FVH18607
2. Month/Year of manufacture from dash tag? Dec 11th
3. Model year registered as? 1972 commando

The only place the DOM is listed is on a yellow tag on the hinge side of the drivers door opening. Can't remember what year they started doing that though so it may not have it depending on the year.

It could very well be a 71. It could have been manufatured in 70 but not sold until 71. All cars are like that even the new ones. Check your other cars dates. chances are good it was built in the year before. This is especially true with commandos. They wernt very popular so inventories get held over till they have buyers
