Mounting cj5 fenders

Is there anything that goes between the flat mounting surfaces between the tub and the fender and fenders and cowl ? I did not find anything when disassembling, but there is no telling if fenders had been off before. Just mounted tub and about to mount fenders.

Use the welting or some sort of butyl compound otherwise it will develop an annoying Squeak. plus cause the paint to be rubbed off and rust will develop.

The mid to late ‘60’s CJs used a butyl calk strip in the fender joints.
