Looking for a winch setup for my 1954 M38A1

Guys
I am looking for a winch setup for my 24 volt 1954 M38A1. My research says that the only setup that works with a military M38A1 is the Ramesy 50 or 50R winch and the M105 PTO. Are there other period type units that will fit on my M38A1 and do you know where I can get a Ramesy or any other units that will fit?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The M50 PTO's are rare, hence $$$. Never used on CJ's so probably no one here has one.

yes other options exist, RamseyM200, Koenigs and a few others are out there & show up here & other places from time to time, they should fit.

I would put a 24v motor on a bellview winch and put a brown paper bag over it.

The OEM GI winch setups can be found but at astronomical prices. If authenticity can be compromised it would be better to adapt a more common model which can be had for under $1K.

Depending on how deep your pockets are, I know a guy that has model 50 Ramsey winch and will be getting the correct 105a pto for it.

What do you reccomend for more common models?

I've had several Koenig ("King") winches on my jeeps, but I have no reason to think Bradens wouldn't be just as good.

Be advised that the PTO take-off is clocked differently on the trucks, versus CJ. And before you write a check be sure the clutch handle/brake assembly works - many have been wrecked by escaped loops of cable crushing them.

I have a Koenig winch and PTO from a cj5 that needs a home,Im in WNY if you want to take a look,PM me
