I'm rebuilding a '58 CJ5 for my wife and it has a Ford 260 V8. I'm at the stage of building new engine mounts to clear headers. It has a new Juan tub and there are a few inches of vertical adjustment for engine positioning.
In an effort to align crank/trans centerline as parallel as possible with the rear axle pinion shaft, it'd be nice to start out with the original crank center with respect to the frame crossmember directly in front. The underside of the crossmember is nice and flat, so a rod up against the bottom sticking out to the engine crank would get me a fairly close dimension to work with. The V8 and original 4 banger are approximately the same length so there won't be much variation with respect to horizontal crank end location.
