1970 Renegade listed on Bring a Trailer

Question; did Ren 1 come with a chrome rear bumper or was that only Tux's?
My biggest gripe is that someone drilled holes in that correct chrome bumper to mount that hideous Hi-Lift in that location. One of my favorite features of the Renegades is the chrome front bumper.
I addressed that in the comments :) But one could fab a proper fairlead for that winch in the bumper; if it could be lowered 'tween the frame rails? Along with the hideous hi lift, the high riding winch obscures the grille.

OK.

The person that owned it before the "Museum" bought it in 2025 owned it for over 30 years and put a few thousand miles on it.
He purchased it in Boulder Colorado, about 60 miles from his home.
The new paint is a little off from the factory color.

He recalls that the factory Tank under the rear floor was the original, and the tank under the seat was added later. I have a 25 year old picture of the underseat tank neck with the bezel screwed on.
The holes in the new dash are in different locations than the original.

The roll bar looks like it could have been part of a family bar, or a light mount for the desert?

Looks like it was built around April 1970, so probably late enough in the 1970 model year that it should have come originally with a rear tank, like W2SNO indicated.

Even though the promo photos showed a chrome front bumper, I don't think the Renegade I's actually came with one standard.

W2SNO, you to have been pretty close to this Jeep.

Was it a Renegade I before it went into the shop?
It certainly appeared to be a "customized" Renegade 1.
The hood decals looked original 30 years ago when I don't think reproductions were available, but maybe they were available from the dealer?
I'm looking for pictures of it with the original speedometer/Odometer.

I'm really not well versed on the particulars of Renegades, but might have access to old records.

That winch was "donated" by the manufacturer to get their product some exposure at the original Camp Jeep in Vail/ Camp Hale in Colorado.

Sorry I missed that! I'll have to be on the look-out for Jeep stuff donations.
I'm lucky to get a sticker...

Went all the way to $23k....reserve not met. How disappointing! I watched the last few minutes, there were 3 bidders going after it, the auction reset probably a dozen times.
