Tuxedo Park transfer case lever problem

The transfer case lever seems to not be able to line up correctly to put the cover on. This is '65 CJ-5A Tuxedo Park. What's missing or problem?

Guy I asked to patch and paint disassembled entire Jeep including the springs! Now he doesn't remember how this goes. He took photos, but changed phones and can't find the photos.

Your transfer case lever is backwards!
Turn it around 180° and you should be good.

Just an observation. Never seen chromed shift levers before on the Tux’s. I like it!
