Hood prop

This is the end of the hood prop for my 69 JC. It looks like an “old style” but the end that goes in the hood doesn’t match the parts book. The tabs that hold the washers and spring in place are past the bend so it doesn’t rotate around cleanly.

Is this an aftermarket hood prop? What is the best solution for this? Is the newer version (part 27 in the drawing) and improvement?
