Looking for brand and part number for a possible air cleaner conversion replacement filter for our '59 CJ5. Guts have already been removed by previous owner. Thanks!

Well, I think converting to a dry element is a great move, especially since the previous owner already did the 'dirty work' of gutting the canister. Since you have the empty housing, you just need a filter with the right diameter and height to seat correctly.

You can search old posts for discussion of this topic -

The original oil bath air cleaner is fine with the F134, from what I understand.
You might insetead look for a a used one to replace the one that's been gutted.
Nothing wrong with the oil bath cleaner, except maybe incompatibility with modern emissions-tuned engines.

I do not like the oil bath. I do not like it, not at all.

There are environments where it is ok or better but it is a type of labyrinth filter and relys on particles actually making contact with the oil soaked media. They are great for pre-filters but The disposable filters catch things the oil bath will miss. They simply cost more to run needing to replace the filter in heavy dirt dust and military environments where overall service life between rebuilds is not a concern.

Like a blue cotton filter on your hvac system vs a hepa filter.
