Heater control valve

During the summer, I want to interrupt the water circulating through the heater core, as it adds heat to the interior. Looking at installing something like this manual valve. Has anyone installed a heater control valve or something similar?

Since the Buick V-6 has a bypass, you really don't need to keep the loop intact when the heater is off. You can just block one of the lines to stop the flow. I put a single manual valve in one of the lines on the Dj-3A:

This is the one I used: https://www.amazon.com/Uenede-Conditioning-Operation-Automotive-Fittings/dp/B0CP78XT94

Cable actuated ones like this are readily available if you want to control it from inside the cab:

What Roy says is very true but never mentioned is; by using a cable or vacuum controlled bypass valve, the valve can be used as a mixing valve and control heater output temperature.
