Help ID donar parts from '80 cj5

Reaching out to the experts for this one.

I found a donar jeep for a dana 30 front end. It's out of a 1980 cj5. I don't know much about the later models. I have to take the whole vehicle. I'm assuming the front axle will bolt into a '69 v6?

I would also like to use the hanging pedals and not sure if those will work.

It looks like it has a Dana 35 rear, t176 trans, dana 300 transfer case and a 258 engine. Seems like a great setup but it would be a nightmare to smog and register. I didn't see a smog pump on it so who knows what other smog equipment is missing.

The rear hub is strange. It has a extension coming out the center. I'm assuming this is a dana 35 thing.

I would love to use this engine and drivetrain but I know it's longer and because of the i6 engine.

Thanks.

The rear axle is an AMC 20. Everyone seems to hate them. The front D30 will bolt right in, but may have 5 bolt hubs. The swinging pedals will work and has an integral brake light switch to get rid of the pressure switch that we all have issues with.

The transmission may be fully of dirt and water.

There may be 500 bucks in parts, but the D300 may exceed that if it's in good condition. It will make your driveline centered if you use it.

The rear axle should be an AMC 20. For smog equipment you would need the smog pump, the diverter valve, and the air injection rail along with the catalytic converter

Thanks for the quick reply. 5 bolt hubs are what I need (5x5.5) to work with my early. I already scored a flanged offset 44 for the '69 and this front 30 will replace the 25. They are hard to find around here. This is good news.

If the 30 has 3.73 gears it will match what I have in the 44.

The registration seems like a nightmare. The paperwork is messed up and smog equipment missing.

I think the 5 bolt hubs referenced above would be the 5 bolt locking hubs that Jeep switched to in the early 80's. Kinda wimpy.
Unlikely it would have 3.73 gears, I think k 75 was the last year for those.

An '80 donor will not have 3.73 gears.
Will be a taller ratio like 3.54 or 3.07.
Book also shows a 4.09 but that would be for the 4-cyl.

Yeah, that's the AMC Corporate axle (M20).
A change that did not work out so well.
Good axle in the Wagoneer and J10, but has structural differences.

How much effort do you want to make to part this out?
The Dana 300 is clearly the prize here.
According to the parts book, an '80 300 has a fixed output, an added bonus.
No SYE (slip yoke eliminator) needed.

What is the seller asking? The Dana 300 is worth $500 or more easily and the t176 is desirable as well.

Thanks again for the info. He wants 1300. I would have to buy the whole thing and strip it at home. I don't mind doing that at all it's just a lot of work then I have to sell off parts.

Not a terrible price but not great either. Is it worth the time to strip it and then deal with marketplace morons to sell what you don't use? Might be easier to buy a Dana 30 by itself.

AMC Corporate 20 rear. Not a good axle. The 2 piece rear axle shafts are weaker than a tapered axle Dana 44 not to mention a myriad of other weaknesses. The Dana 300 transfer case is sought after and has good value. Around here $650 for a good used core is common and they sell quick for that, ymmv. All Dana 300’s had fixed outputs. The early ones had a shorter rear output, about 3/4”-1” difference. The pedals can work with some massaging. The Dana 30 can bolt in fairly easy but as mentioned won’t be 3.73-1 unless someone changed them.

1300 to be the sellers trash removal in my opinion. Yes the 300 is worth 650 maybe, yes the D30 is worth 200 bucks at best..

You then need to tow the hulk or pay someone to do it, part it out and dispose of the rest.

A lot of work and you have to pay to do it.

600 is still high in my opinion.

I was planning on letting it sit then see if he'll part it out or 500 for the whole thing. It has six bolt locking hubs and disc brakes so I'm interested mainly in the front axle.
