D18 E BRAKE

The actuator? actually fell down
I guess it would be a stationary hold down for one end of the shoes, opposite the adjustment end. That is only held in place by a tiny C clip.
Yes, thats a bolt and washer and locknut.
I have seen this fix before so I tried it. I changed the outer of 2 seals in the output and filled with cold Sta Lube. Took a while.
I took it for a short run, couple miles maybe, and it was quiet and worked very well. Time will tell.

It looks like Tom Woods has a 10-spline 1350 yoke available. Strap and bolt type though, not u-bolt type: https://4xshaft.com/collections/jee...26-spline-cv-yoke-1310?variant=44133909365054
Soooo, how many people here have actually blown up quality (read Spicer) 1310 joints that were in good condition? That has never happened on any of my CJ's and the joints on the 3B have been subjected to rather significant torque.

A couple of other thoughts: If one uses the D18 rear bearing retainer from the wagons/pickups, no clearancing of the yoke is required. And only the late D20's used the 26 spline yokes. The rest are 10 spline like the D18's.

I haven't, but I saw it this past summer. TJ with a 4.3, trying to get up the Big Sluice. Everyone was shocked that he was running "tiny" 1310's. I thought to myself, I do too. I also thought, I'd rather break that than the D18 main shaft.

In 40+ years of rock crawling, I’ve never broken a u-joint. With that said, One way to break a u-joint is to catch it in a rock, which is why I’m building skids for my diffs that will cover the U-joint.

I’m also a slow crawler, so I don’t tend to bounce up obstacles.
