Spen Trailer?

[Bubblehead617]

Picked up a small trailer Saturday. From the pics I've found on the 'net. I think it's a SPEN trailer but it has 14 inch wheels instead of 16". Tried to post pics but even after resizing smaller I can't add them. Anyone ever seen a SPEN trailer?

Yes and I lost all my photos of it.

Still trying to find any numbers stamped on the trailer...no luck. The State Patrol will (hopefully) just assign a "home built" number & let it pass.

If I recall the rims were 14 inch and a 4 bolt pattern?

Mine has 14" 5x4.5 wheels.

That should be correct.
Got the hub caps?

[Bubblehead617]

Nope.

I have a Spen. My wheels were too rusty to justify keeping, so unfortunately I can't help you out with the wheel size. Hit me up with any questions you have, and I can send you pictures. I just posted yesterday about my latest modification to my Spen actually!

Here's the original build thread I did over on expeditionportal.com

Mine had the same bolt pattern if I remember correctly. Definitely 5 bolt.

Just looked thru your posts on the SPEN. Good looking little trailer. Think I'll probably end up replacing the fenders & doibg a lotta sheet metal work. Not interested in keeping it "original"; just want a decent little trailer to use behind Connie's TJ or the '56 Wagon. Do like the Willys tailgate!!

It's perfect for that use case!

Years ago I built a boat trailer in Washington. Take it to the state patrol for inspection and a title and license are no problem.

Once the WSP inspects & approves, I'll get a "temp" registration/title. After 3 years I'll get a permanent one.
