A few new things since the last time I posted.
1. Winch motor is done, new winch line, new UHMWPE fairleads. Valvoline daily protectant no detergent 30 wt oil. Still needs wiring and brake/clutch lines.
2. New stainless footman loops for the hood.
3. wheels are back on. I really like the look of the chrome.
4. Center console/cup holder is done.
5. iPhone holder installed.

The lower the gauges are the harder to see. AMHIK. If you can fit them all neatly on the top line You might want to do that. At least put the oil and temp on the top row.I like your gauge setup. How's the visibility? I was actually thinking on this today, and added some sticky notes to my dash to get an idea on whether I wanted to inset gauges in the dash, or continue to bolt them in a pod under the dashboard. I'm leaning towards this arrangement:View attachment 104526
One more question: what did you use to create the gauge holes? Punch out tool? Hole saw?
That's funny you mentioned that, I was looking at my dash layout yesterday too. I am leaning toward the traditional lay-out of the older model jeeps that have the four gauges arranged around the speedometer. My 74 came factory with the amp and oil press gauges already just under the speedometer. I would need only two more gauge holes above it for fuel and volt.I like your gauge setup. I found the 2" saw was perfect for 2 1/16" gauges. Most gauges maybe like the factory jeep gauges being 2 1/16 inch. Dont know if a hole saw is even available in that size?
Fabrication: My dash was so scarred up, I had one made by DoubleD fabrication. One of the best purchases I have made for the Jeep. My understanding is that the automotive guys use a knockout punch for gauge holes. https://www.swagoffroad.com/products/swag-knock-out-punch-automotive-gauge-sizes-2-1-16-2-5-8I like your gauge setup. Worst visibility is turn signals. I look like grandma driving down the street with my left turn signal on for no reason. I might put a pair of green LEDs above the speedo in front of the steering wheel when I run out of other things to do.
I lived in Guam for a few years when my dad was in the Navy.Hafa adai! Have you been to Guam? I was there for a while in 2020-2021. Very nice place.
Sorry for the hijack…

Agree, getting the exhaust to the rear of the 47 made my wife a much happier Jeeper. Less noise and less smelly.New Walker mufflers for the CJ5. It is way quieter. The muffler guy dumped them out the back so much less smelly! Wife is very happy.
