40 Years Later - The Re-build

Haven't been here in a while, small update.

My friends own a Marina that hosts a charity car show. This year we took both the Jeep and Buggy. It was about an hour to the show and back, and the Jeep did great on the mix of highway and town roads. Grabbed a shot of my dad cruising at about 55mph on the way home.

Started making winter to-do list. Some of those tasks include:
-Front axle knuckle seals
-Transmission output seal
-Fresh Fluids all around
-Finish the radiator shroud project I started

Ended up with a heater hose leak, so when I drained the system I used the opportunity to fit the DIY shroud. Looks like it should work pretty good. Hoping it helps with cooling, obviously, but at the very least should help reduce the risk of losing fingers from the fan blades.

The fan shroud has been working great. Got it painted up and permanently installed. All is going well. I'm pleased with my amazon special 600CCA 30AH AGM Harley-sized battery. It was 18*F out today and I cranked and cranked and cranked before I realized the choke wasnt closing. Probably a solid 6-7 minutes of cranking below freezing. After I freed the choke plate up with a little WD40, it started right up.

Anyway, happy to have the forum back up and running!

Another surprise since my last post. Opened the mailbox yesterday to the latest issue of the Kaiser Willys Jeep Lifestyle magazeine and found our CJ on the cover!

This winter we replaced the steering knuckle seals & felt, changed the engine oil and transmission/TC fluid, and are currently reworking the draw bar to accept a 2" receiver. Excited to get it back out for the season.
