Norcal69's Common Sense Build.

Wheel spacers installed and torqued.
Resealed rear diff cover.
Checked fluid levels.
Greased suspension bushings with food grade grease.
Greased steering, pedals, U joints, slip yokes with chassis grease.
Nut/Bolt checked everything that didn't have a paint pencil witness mark.
There's a fair amount of dried pork blood pudding in the back and under the seats...... basically this thing is a rolling bear bait tub.
A good hot water pressure wash will have this jeep ready to roll.

The rear axle housing center section was ground down pretty bad, to the point the the lowest center bolt head needed a nut welded to it to be removed.
I cleaned the housing and pre heated it with a torch.
A 5/16" round rod was bent to shape and welded to the bottom of the housing to simulate the metal that was once there.

Awww c'mon. Leave the blood. Imagine the Rubicon stories everyone will have?

After some snow storm shipping delays, these showed up Friday evening!

I mocked up the assembly to get an idea of where the seal will ride.

Polished up the area where the seal will ride.

The seal fits snug into the axle tube a little RTV to ensure it stays in place.

Grease in between the inner and outer seal lip.
Here is a link to the seal manufacturers website https://sealsit.com/product/economy-axle-seal/
I purchased my seals through Summit as they are considerably cheaper than buying manufacturer direct. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SIT-EAS1-5100

Time constraints are making me stick with the 11" drums for now, rear disc brakes are in the future.

Topped off with Duffers recommended ARP bolts!
Right off the bat I noticed the decreased rolling resistance of the floater setup.
I clear coated the axle end, we will see how long it looks this pretty.

With these Jeep upgrades wrapped up, it's time to work on some 2WD fun!

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to ask how the axles seals have been. I'm assuming no issues?

I've got a set of Moser Flanged axles on site, will be getting a set of 30 spline spindles from R&P at the Puyallup swap meet, but still need to order bolts and seals.

I think I'll need the one size down seals since I'm using a smaller tube tapered axle housing: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sit-eas25100d

No complaints from me.
I used these on my 69 and Steve’s 71.

It seems like all I do is shamelessly neglect this jeep these days.
I haven't opened this shipping container since the jeep was put away after the Rubicon trip in June... pretty sure the mud wasn't even dry yet.
Here is reason #284 why I love fuel injection!

Now its time to grab the leaf blower and blow the remnants of the Rubicon trip out of the tub.
I am going to take advantage of the last 90 degree day to get the soft top installed for hunting this fall.

Completed the transformation from summer wheeling jeep to fall hunting jeep.
Swapped from the glass pack muffler to the big quiet flow muffler.
Removed the 5" front shackles and installed 4".
Removed bikini top and rear support bow.
Took advantage of the brief 90 degree temp to get the super top installed.
Didn't bother washing it, there is an inch of rainfall predicted during my upcoming hunt.

Mine is still in the trailer from August Colorado trip. Hopefully my Sniper starts right up as well.
