When those of you who have put D-30's in, are you still using shims for caster increase?

When I put the D30 in the '71, resulting caster was 1° and uncontrollable over 30 mph. I installed 5° steel shims. Ran straight and true at 70 mph.
Those shims are still in ~10 years later, although the entire rig belongs to a buddy now.

Make sure you use steel shims! The aluminum ones tend to split down the middle and work their way out. If you can't find any contact McRuff on here. He has made them for lots of folks on this board. I should add that ideally you want around 5-7* total caster.

I didn't end up needing any shims on mine - may have been the Holbrooks on it as well.

I did not use any shims. I have a spring reversal, which may have changed the geometry.

I use 5° steel shims that McRuff made for me. Very nice quality and very timely. The Jeep runs great even at 70 MPH.

Thanks guys. I have the shims on my 27 now. I was just checking to see if the 30 needed them also.
