I will try again to post the pics, I can also e-mail them if you would like as a back up. I also used the behind the dash to firewall mount to support the steering column and to switch to powerbrakes/hanging brake pedal.

i can provide any info you would like on this, it is a little outside the box from most steering swaps.

I also have the engine out doing a chevy swap using a jegs tranny adapter to t-14 (cost $59.00) if your interested?

Re the Chevy swap, Jegs and Summit sell a plate that changes from the BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) engne-to-bellhousing pattern to the Chevy pattern - that may be what he's referring to. A '71 with a T14 would have had a 225 V6, which already uses a GM BOP bellhousing.

There may be an easy way to adapt a Chevy to the T15, but I'm not familiar with it. The 304 uses the same bellhousing as my truck - AMC to T15. Novak sells an adapter, and I expect that Advance does too ... but for more than $59.

My bellhousing is for a 225 v6, however it does not have the removable adaptor like earlier t-14's. the jegs adaptor is for a automatic tranny. I took a gamble and thought that it might work for a stick shift. There is one modification to make to the plate. I'm going to notch and weld in a washer at the top of the plate where the crown is on the back of the chevy engine is for the top bolt hole. I used the stock clutch and a Novak pilot bearing for the tranny shaft.

I was able to get the engine in with out notching/removing the front cross member or any modifications to the drivelines, I'm going to notch the firewall to get the HEI Dist to clear, will need to adjust the steering shaft to clear the Novak motor mount on the drivers side.

I will take pictures on the next engine install for everyone to see.

    nothing ventured, nothing lost

What did you use for bottom mounts? I see the sides easily but I cant make out any mounting for the bottom mounts. I was thinking of using the YJ bracket as well, I cant tell from the pics if you did that or not.

looks good, I am guessing the linkage to the 5s firewall wont be much trouble. they look the same to me on mine.

I didnt realize the 71 had a floor exit for the steering column. mines half up the firewall. thats why I am thinkn of using both the box and the steering column.

I used th YJ floor bracket over the stock hole in the floor. Attached is a picture behind the dash (excuse the wiring mess). I plan on installing the pedals and the mastercylinder and brake booster from the YJ. Needed to remove the heaterbox to make it fit.
