I have access to a complete power steering system from my son's rolled 92 XJ and I'd like to put it on my 2A. I already have a saginaw manual steering box on my 2A and it's mounting holes are the same as the XJ's. My 2A also already has a D30 front end. The point is to get the power steering and the tilt wheel. Has anyone tried this...any pitfalls?

i would think it is doable. just yank the parts out and see how they fit. Nothing a little fab work wont make fit :)

I have an xj box and power steering pump on my 3a. Front axle is also a D30. Steering linkage is a composite and I have retained the stock steering column. A fare amount of fabrication is needed, mostly to get the linkage setup. What motor are you using. I've had this setup with the flathead 134 and now a 225 v6.

The main things I see as problems is the lenght of the shaft from the end of the column and the steering box (it is too short) and the rearward end of the steering box will probably run into the lower part of the front crossmember. I've just done a sm420 conversion where I had to make a new transfer case support/crosmember, so I'm capable, but I seem to have more fabrication time in the jeep than drive time. I guess thats just part of it all...you know "It's a Jeep Thing".

Why are the fenders flat on top? So you have place to lay your tools. :D
Curious to here how you make out as I've been thinking of doing the same type conversion. Seems I do alot of thinking but, don't get the wrenching done. Hmmm, money pit.

Hey Bob, email me at willysworker@att.net I'll send you some photos of my setup. I haven't a clue as to how to add photos to this forum. Guys are often refurring to photo's in the album. I can't see any photos when I'm using this site. Just red x's. Bummer. About your time spent wrenching. I'm the worst ratio holder there is, I've had a Willys Wagon since 1990. Drove it for about a year after restoring(real restoration) and been modifying it ever since with no drive time. My ratio with my CJ3a is almost as bad. But I did get to Moab in '01 and have the fun of it being featured in JP. Later
