****i did manage to find a steering column on craigs list from a chevy. guy says its a short shaft. he thinks it might have come out of a van.
i know a lot of peeps put the camaro tilt steering in theirs to clear the belly (which i need) but i dont know the length or where to measure it. will any short shaft fit? i bought herms power steering conversion and will be putting the gearbox inside the frame (i dont know if thatll help).
can i just cut a new hole a little higher in the body to fit it? i dont know these things, feel free to treat me like a dummy.
(and my jeep is 3 hours north, i cant even go look at it right now until we finally get settled. ****

welp..i have a lot more time to work on my jeep. i had to quit my job because its too difficult to do. i hurt my back in the navy many years ago, and it blew out. disk explided and my left leg went numb. waitin on surgery from the VA. discetomy or whatever. going to remove it or maybe fuse it. i have only spoken with a couple docs, and not the person who i need to chat with. i dunno what they will be sticking back in, never had it done.

good news tho, my battle with the VA is soon coming to an end. im so tired of eating ramen, it isnt funny. lol.

bad news tho, while sitting here in texas, someone stole most of my jeep parts out of my storage. i am so at a loss right now.
all my parts to my oddfire, gone except the block. my d18 gone, everything from my lift is gone except the springs. tools, flywheels, multiple sets of heads for my buicks, 429 and my 302...tons of things.
but i still have my lift. =)

i am thinking about scrapping the whole short frame thing and going with a 72+ frame. put my lift on it, put my turbo 3.8 (or pick up a 3800 supercharged for more controlled power) in it with a rock box or something to get some low gears. might have to swap in an auto and drop the sm 420. add one of herms over drives. thatll give me a little room between the transfer case and the rear end. just shift the whole engine forward. i called gary and the holbrook kit is only $150 minus the springs so i will buy everything else. i can still take it to the rocks and the extra frame length will be good for climbing....maybe im thinking crazy.
