While I can't answer your specific question, hopefully others with more experience and knowledge especially with intermediate Jeeps will chime in. In looking at your pictures I see what looks like the old style twin lead antenna wire along with common household lamp wire. In a previous post you mentioned there being bell wire and speaker wire (that may be the same wire that I'm referring to as lamp wire.) None of this is suitable for automotive wiring. Additionally given the wiring used I would be highly suspicious of any connections. Sometimes the wires are color coded and that can assist you in tracing circuits. It looks like someone painted yours with a heavy coat of red paint which may make this more difficult. If this were my Jeep I would be considering a new wiring harness. If you can get a TSM or even a wiring diagram for your Jeep you may be able to replace the suspect wiring and avoid replacing everything. If you leave it as is I would be concerned about shorts or something much worse.
Good luck and stay after it!

Cut the zip ties, unstring the wires and see where they go. The little transformer is likely a choke used to filter out electrical noise for some communications equipment. Radio stuff. Some of it's factory looking, some not.

Put your vehicle specifics in your message or in your signature file. That's needed to comment further. The signature file is always appended to your messages, so your specs are always present.
