If anyone has some pictures of how the windshield is attached to the body could you please post some pictures for me. The po of my jeep put some chrome windshield hinges off of a later CJ using a sawzall and drill on my jeep in order to put on later style 5 doors that didn't fit. I got some original hinges off of a donor that a friend had but am not sure how they're supposed to go on since it has been hacked and drilled. Hoping I don't need a new frame. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, '71 CJ5. I have the hinges I need both lower and upper but I have never seen how they attach to the windshield frame. The frame I have now is cut and I cant tell what goes where. Im at work now so I'm not able to add pictures at this time, but will asap.

    Thanks

The long arms in the pictures are inserted vertically inside the windshield frame uprights.

The chrome hinges you have appear to be for a '76 or later CJ windshield. The correct hinges for your windshield used to be quite scarce, though someone may be reproducing them now.

You could use a windshield from a '76 or later CJ rather than trying to repair what you have. The later windshield fits with a little manipulation of the mounting holes - which seems to have been done already on your Jeep. The later windshield works fine, but you must use 76-on style top with it.

If you already have a top that is in good condition, it's probably worthwhile to find another windshield frame. New aftermarket frames are available, though they have a reputation for being flimsy and not fitting very well. The premium solution is a 69-ish to 75 factory windshield complete from a wreck or parts Jeep - you want the windshield with the arched top glass and single outside-mounted wiper motor.

If you weld, you could repair what you have.

I appreciate all of y'all's help. I actually have a set of the correct hinges that a friend of mine gave me. I was hoping that I could just bolt them on but obviously not. Gonna have to prioritize some things on the jeep. Or then again maybe I'll win the lottery tonight and just do everything I want. Thanks again.
