Would anyone have a wiring diagram for a Desert Dynamics T-200 winch? I am attempting to install on my 2A and mine has a remote solenoid set up that I cannot figure out. The newer models of this winch talk about a ground wire from the motor and an inline 400 amp fuse which I don't understand,

    Thanks

Have been in touch with Pearce, but all the info they have sent deal with their new models and I cannot understand what they are telling me. Also, now the winch is in neutral and the dogs are not aligned to go back into gear.

    Questions:

    Does your motor have 3 studs marked "A" "F1" "F2" ?

How many solenoids are in your control box?

If answer is yes to the first one then follow these inst to test motor. Connect negative battery cable from neg term on battery to motor case (mounting stud on outside housing) which is your ground.

Connect a strap (10 gauge for test is OK) from "A" terminal to the "F1" terminal. Connect the Positive battery cable to the "F2" terminal. The motor should run in a Clock Wise direction (I think it's viewed from the front of the motor - can't remember for sure).

If that worked then we will check the reverse direction.

Connect your 10 gauge wire from "A" terminal to the "F2" terminal. Connect the battery positive cable to the "F1" terminal and observe the motor running in the Counter-Clockwise direction.

Be advised this motor has a lot of torque and will spin out of your hands if not mounted. You will draw quite a sufficient arch when final connection is made so I suggest the last connection would be to hold the ground wire to the motor case to minimize stud damage due to arching.

If the above works good then we can work on the relays. Let us know. Others can chime in here also..

I think it is resolved, I finally found a wiring diagram on the Pearce website. I have 3 terminals on the winch motor and 2 solenoids in the remote control box. Am now trying to fabricate a mount for the remote box next to the winch. It appears that the new solenoid box from Pearce would work but it would have to be mounted upside down, thus exposed to the weather, mud, dust etc.

Anyway, I appreciate the follow up. Any suggestions you have for a mounting location would be appreciated. I previously (25 years ago) had the control box under the hood, Got tired of raising the hood every time I used the winch. It did however offer good protection in the event of a snapped cable.

    Thanks again

Very easy to make a remote control. Only needs 3 wires and a switch with "ON" "OFF" "ON" and I used the flat utility trailer plug mounted under the dash. Also had another switch mounted on the drivers side dash to operate it from there as well. My relays were mounted in a fairly well sealed box that was mounted on the side of the grille near the radiator. Worked very well for years.
