Ok, so here's the damage. Managed to finally get the connecting rod out of the block. I couldn't get the crank pulley off the crank so I had to work with the crank in the block. It moved a little so that helped. I had to get a wrench down inside the bore because the way the rod was twisted, I couldn't just pull the rod and piston out the top of the engine. Once I got that out everything went back together just fine.

I KNOW I torqued everything down this time. I've got the bottom end done and flipped the engine over. I just set the head on for now because i have to run back up to school for class in a little bit here.

In the last picture, you can see the end of the rod cap with the nuts sticking up. Can you tell what I did wrong the first time??

Right side is first attempt, Left side is how I shoulda done it the first attempt.

Lesson learned. Don't rush thru something like this...

Well, Got the rest of the engine built today. All I need is to put it in and I need a new fitting for the heater hose on the new water pump. My new pump has the outlet in a different spot and I can't get my fitting off the brass 90* adapter. Kinda rusty anyways so guess I might as well pony up a buck or 2.

Hoping to install it in the jeep tomarrow if I get the chance.

    News Flash...

    It runs8)

Got the engine installed last tuesday and didn't have time to start it. Messed around a little today and finally figured the timing was off just enough to not start. Pushed the distributor all the way counter clockwise and it fired right up8)

I've got 2 oil leaks, 1 I knew- top of oil canister I need a washer for the bolt. 2 - The new oil filter line that comes off the timing cover was too thick and stiff to make the bend so I used the old line. Think I can just use some teflon tape around the threads and that should seal it.

Sounded purty and no huge knocking noises.8)

But then again thats how it ran the first time. I'll see what happens the second time I start it up...
