I know the 225 fits better and I have one I was planning on rebuilding but I was just offered a running 350 for free so it is kinda tempting to swap it in so who is running one and do you have any good pics of it? I am doing lots of searching now but cant seem to find any good pics of a SBC in a flatty or early CJ5 so does anyone got some? BTW my 2A is already very far from original so I have no problem making things fit.

Every one that I've seen needed major firewall work to clear the distributor, or the engine sat so far forward there were clearance issues with the fan..

Plan on running into issues with the firewall and fan/radiator, steering shaft and exhaust. Thats just the main things. But those come with any engine swap and as long as your prepared to spend money everything should go alright.

Yeah I figured on those, just looking for some ideas on what people have done and if it looks clean and is workable. I have already skinned the grille and my floor pan is already modified and will be cut out for the SM465 when it goes in so those arent really a big deal I guess. I'll probably have to do fenderwell headers to clear the steering shaft but was going to have to do that for the 225 anyways. It seems that it shouldnt be that much more work really as pretty much everything would be getting done for the 225 anyways, just a little more firewall work.

Couldn't you clear by using shorty headers? Then you could run dual inside frame.
Just asking... I don't know personally.

I was thinking it might too, especially if you push the radiator and engine up as far as possible. I'll have to see when I get mine here.

I might be able to, not sure. I found out the engine I am getting has block hugger headers on it so maybe they will work for me? I think I would prefer to keep the exhaust inside the framerails with this one.

My brother has a 350 V-8 in his 55. Sorry no pictures. :(

If you use the short water pump you can get more room.

I would cut the firewall to have room for cooling. Cool motor :)

Well I picked it up today, its only a 305 but supposedly it only has about 5000 miles on it. I also got a new HEI distributor with it and an aluminum radiator that will fit my grille perfectly as well as a bunch of other parts. I havent even gotten to put it on the stand yet but it seems good so far, hopefully I will get it on the stand tomorrow and check everything over.
