Whining From Front Digg Area

    Hi,
    I have a 64' cj5 that I recently got back on the road.

    There is a whining noise from the front engine area while driving. I changed all the fluids recently.
    Anything to check?

    I'd take a stethoscope to the alternator, water pump (and P/s if any). Listen for an unhappy bearing.

    A long screwdriver or wooden dowel against your ear will work, but don't get into the fan or belt!

    How loud is it? Loose belts can whine, but they’re usually pretty loud and often stop whining a few seconds after start up.

    Temporarily take the belt(s) off and run the engine, see if the noise is still there.

    I think it is the normal transfer case whine.
    All is good.

    My transmission had pretty significant whine. I switched to redline gl-5 75w90 fluid and, while still loud, it is noticeably quieter.

    I am thinking since the G and F are next to each other on the keyboard.....its a key punch error.....should be Diff.

    What we called in maintenance records....a finger fart.....
