    Hi fellas,
I want to put a 4.1 V6 Buick engine in a CJ2A. Now, can somebody please tell me if it will be possible to fit the T90 with the short input shaft without cutting the CJ2A's firewall?

    Thank you.

the V6 conversion requires the long input shaft. i do not believe there is a kit that uses the shorter one.

Yep. The firewall position isn't relevant. The V6 bellhousing is too deep for the T-90 CJ F4 input shaft; won't reach the pilot bearing. The only conversions that I know of that use the short input shaft are the Pinto 4, the 144/170 Falcon 6, and most likely the Studebaker 6 (used a T-90 from the factory). Everything else needs the long truck input shaft and an adapter.

I've seen this question before, and if I recall correctly it's about an inch to an inch and a quarter (25-40 mm) for a CJ5. I assume you have less room in the 2a.

Ya - lets just say that unless you move the engine forward an inch or 2 when you mount things - you wouldn't want your finger in there  .

Depending on the 'slant' you get (seems the engine always slants just a tad to the driver side) you may need to put a small demple in the firewall at the corner of the driver valve cover. My last one was fine, until I put a vent on it and had to move the firewall .5 inches.

    OK Frans-- here is how-

    I have put converted several CJ2as and CJ3a to a Buick V6.

You need a trans with a long input shaft
You can put the shaft in your stock t-90 -- but you usually have to also change the transmission cluster gear too. A T-90 is easy to disassemble and reassemble. There are instructions on the internet to do that too.

You can leave the transmission and transfer case in the same as original position-- you will have to dent in the firewall about an 30 mm or an inch on the driver's side if you do that.

I would recommend changing to Saginaw steering when you do the conversion however. Otherwise your stock steering box almost rubs on the V6 engine block.

I also recommend converting to a swing brake pedal--- otherwise the brake arm will need to be bent to keep from hitting the V6 bell housing.

The best conversion is to move the Buick engine foward about 45 mm ( one and a half inches) and Move the engine about 45 mm to the drivers side too. This makes room for the front driveshaft and firewall.
