The important thing is to run a wider gap on the spark plugs, typically .045 vs .035

Any set of wires from an HEI Buick v6 will work great.

I used the elbows on the cap, but straight boots over the plugs.

If it helps, here is the (I believe Petronix) HEI that I ordered some time ago after a member here put a link that pointed me in the right direction as to which one to buy. I just popped it on my non running motor. Here is a picture of the unit on the motor and the grinding/ head bolt grind that I had to do to ge it to fit. It still rubs a bit, but I can move it around.

Plug the 3 wire HEI pigtail into bottom of the cap.
You should see 2 additional terminals on the cap.
One is marked for a tachometer and the other marked "BAT" goes to ignition switch "ON"...

Thank you sir. Out of all the pictures and instructions I read, that was the most concise and correct!

I kind of remember this being discussed before but.... It looks like the cap is for an 8 cylinder- how does it keep the firing/timing correct with a 6cyl?

The tangs in the cap are 3 different lengths.

Good info and explains why the guy in the Bronco on one of our Rubicon ECJ5 runs was able to use a spare someone had. He had been out there for at least 2 days while his buddy was walking back to town for a new one. IIRC he was almost out of food and water.
