    Hey guys,
I will be buying a tubing bender in the next month or so. I researched them a couple of years ago when a friend and I were going to both pay half but he got up and joined the Army.

At the time, the JD2 Model 3 appeared to be the best value. It's remarketed by other small companies also calling it the Model 3.

What do you guys think? I will be primarily use it with 1-3/4" and 2" tubing for roll cages. In the future I may get dies for smaller diameter tubing for things like side bars, jamboree racks, etc.

    My budget is approximately $1200.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I do appreciate the link Chuck but I'm looking for feedback on what bender would be a good choice for me based on my needs and budget. I guess I probably didn't make that too clear. I've ordered my notcher from VanSant (I like 'em) and I'm sure they could tell me exactly what they think I need but I'd like some input from people who aren't trying to sell me anything.... if that makes sense.

JD2, pro-tools, M2. Take you're pick they are all basically the same and work fine for what you want to use them for. Vansant or medford tools should be the cheapest place to buy. For 1200 you should be able to get a bender, couple dies and still have some money left over to think about converting it to hydraulic.

I did the pro-tools setup for the $$ your talking about. I really like the way it works. Besides, I have a neihbor with the same bender and we swap dies :p .

I started with a 2" round and 1" square die. Also got their pro notcher.

I also have the Pro-Tools bender and am very happy with it. Several years ago I paid about $770 for it and that included the degree ring, stop, level, 1 set of tool steel dies with lifetime guarantee, and several other do-dads and also included shipping clear across the country. I'm sure prices have come up but for $1,200 you should be able to get really set up. Nickmil.

Go to pirate4x4 and check out the vendors forums. I was quoted $605 shipped to my door for a pro-tools bender with 1 die set (1.75" x 5.5 CLR I think), degree ring, and handle. I opted not to buy the stand since I can make my own.

For $1200 you should be able to get the bender and die, notcher, and a have enough left over for a hydro conversion with parts from surpluscenter.com

I'm looking to get the Pro-Tools HD myself. Pirate vendors forum seems to be the best place to get it... lots of competition.
