After installing a frame tie-in on my CJ 5 rear cage, the tires now rub a little on the tube at crazy but not unusual angles. I am thinking about doing wheel spacers to buy a little room. It seems like people are doing that without a lot of problems. I have a D 44 in the rear and a D 30 in the front and I'm running 33 12. 50s on 10 inch rims with 3.75 backspacing and around 4 inches of lift between shackles, lift kit, and body spacers. Is there anything I'm missing or should be concerned about? I'm not clear whether I should be doing all 4 corners or just the rears. Thoughts?

Having 1" wheel spacers on all 4 corners I recommend just doing the rear axle. It's already a little narrower than the dana 30 front and when you space out the front it makes it more sensitive to bumbs.
The 30 should be structurally ok with 3/4 or 1" spacers. The 25 and 27. Need the button head bolt conversation or the spindle bolts can pull out of the knuckle.

Personally I do not like wheel spacers.. IMO they give added leverage to all the lug bolts and nuts holding things on. I have 33's on my 75with about 3-1/2" lift. It rubs once in a while and I just live with it.

Are you going to solve a problem on the inside of the tire but create one on the outside (interference with the body?)

I ran spacers both on the front of my CJ6 and the rear of my Dodge campervan with no issues.

But then again I didn't mind some inner wheel well rub on the CJ6 - didn't happen that often and didn't hurt anything except the paint.

These Jeeps will rub on the flat inside surface of the rear wheel houses, even with the factory tires. Seems to cause no harm other than the loss of a little paint.

You should have no interference with the edge of the body with tires under ca 34" diam... unless your spacers push the tires way out of the wheel openings.

Thanks for the input. The tires would clear no problem if it weren't for the cage tie in. They are already a little outside the flares so I better measure again. My wheels are steel and pretty heavy. Hate to lose one at speed.

When I was running 32x12.5, on 15x8 rims I was using white spoke wagon wheels with a back spacing of 1.75", (purchased 1980) when I decided to get new rims, (2003) I could not find any rims with that back spacing, everything was 3.5", Finally in 2013 Summit Racing started carrying the 1.75" again, it's like running 2" wheel spacers
I am running a 2" BDS rear springs with above rims and I don't rub.
I also have a cage tie in.
