    As I type this, I have a 'moment' ...

I have swapped brakes to 11 inch brakes. ALL BETS ARE OFF for 'stock fittment'...

I am custom making my S-lines with a short end and a long end line nut.

    BUT FOR OTHERS -

I noticed that the front wheel cylinder's brake line are 'deeper' than the standard length 3/8-24 nut. I have the long nuts as well. This may be specific to the 11 inch brake front wheel cylinders. If you have 10 inch or 9 inch brakes, or disks, this may be different.

The rear wheel cylinders will take the short line nuts.

I see there's a copper washer for the line nut as well.

    Question:
Is the shorter nut acceptable with the copper washer (not sure what function the washer actually provides in this case, since the line nut surfaces don't cover the copper washer in total)? The shorter nut bottoms out on the threads prior to seating snugly against the inverted flare (IF) of the line. Seems that the line will not be tight on the IF fitting internals and probably leak through the line nut / tubing fittment.

    OR

stating the obvious: Just use the longer line nut and seat correctly?

AS a secondary to this, the CROWN part JA001488 (the s-tube at the front wheel cylinder) also uses the short nuts on both ends. May be that part is incorrectly cross referenced (or my mind's eye incorrectly cross referenced it).

What wheel cylinders are you using? I also made S lines but I used the AM General postal jeep cylinders that have the "straight out" port (same as the 9" pieces) rather than the angled port that AMC used.

I'm off using raybestos 11" wheel cylinders (swapped to 11" a while back). I think I chose 11" stuff from a 77 when I was buying it. Has an angled port.

Look at the fitting closely. Probably not flare fitting if on 11" brakes. They take a hose with a washer straight to the wheel cylinder. That is why most people change the routing of the lines when going to 11". Gets rid of the line across the axle.

Just as D-man stated. I had to use the rubber hoses to my front 11" brakes. S lines are gone. Only issue I has was the end of the hose that goes into the metal line at the frame. Make sure the threads are the same here. I ordered bastard parts for a one year application that were different threads than any other year. I think it was '73. Sent them back and ordered for another year and they threaded right in as they should. You likely won't have that issue since you are using parts from a later model.
