Someone gave me an old ham radio transmitter for free, circa 1955, but it didn't work. It was originally available pre-built or as a kit. This one was clearly a kit, based on the craftsmanship of the wiring and soldering underneath.

The first problem to solve was why turning the main knob didn't cause the pointer to rotate.

I removed all the knobs, some screws, and unsoldered the meter wires in order to remove the front panel to get at the dial vernier.

I removed the vernier and disassembled it. The 60 year old grease had hardened like dry wall mud. I cleaned the parts and reassembled the mechanism with bicycle hub grease.

I put the radio back together. The frequency dial now turned smoothly, but the transmitter still wouldn't transmit. I spent a few minutes every night for about a week trying to debug the problem. I found an inductor was too close to the band switch and arced to the metal ground and burned out the wire in the inductor.

I found a modern inductor of 200uH in my junk box and replaced the burned out one. It didn't solve the problem. I was eventually able to track down a resistor that had nearly doubled in value. I replaced it with a new one. Another resistor was completely open and I replaced it.

The resistor on top had doubled in value and the resistor on the bottom was completely open. After replacing both resistors, the transmitter now worked and is back on the air. Interesting that a 60 year old transmitter is still compatible with a modern radio built in 2019.

I finished up my curio cabinet that took quite alot of work. Also got my little hotwheels jeep done. its not the best paint job but looks great in person. I had to make the top and roll bar from scratch. Before and after pics

Traded my other Farmall M about two years ago. Missed it ever since. Now traded the Ford 8n for a perfect running but a bit rough looking Farmall M. I missed the other one a lot. Now a build up for work and some Antique pulling. And the search is on again for another factory wide front.

I recently found another blade for my baby Deere. This one got mounted with the 3 point hitch with home made adapter to the front end. Took the quick detach bucket off and built the adapter to match the quick detach on the boom arms.

Doing an engine swap on my Rockford tora. I had a 175 yamaha 2 stroke on it but I wanted a more easy to deal with bike that i could just jump on and go. The yamaha engine was hard to start because it was pretty cobbled on there it had a crappy clutch and no second gear and very hard to shift. plus no kick starter. So Im putting on a 90cc china engine its kick start and 4 speed. Im making a very good effort to get it working as easy and reliably as possible so i dont have to screw around every time i want to ride. Its going really well

I love these kind of bikes, not horsepower monsters, just fun. We, siblings and I, had a 71 Kawasaki trail boss when I was a kid. 100cc I think. Would love to have that bike now.
