We've already established it was a mid-year addition in 1969 above. But interesting that it appeared to have stopped for the '70 model year contrary to what I've read. Everything I'd ever read indicated this and the parts sources list them as being for '69 and '70 vehicles.

*edit* Pack Rat's '70 has reflectors, so something doesn't jive. I doubt that anyone would stick these on a Jeep intentionally after the fact! R)

My 70, as I noted above, has the reflectors on the hood and it is original.

In some ways it seems like Kaiser was just using up old parts to get rid of them. My 70 has the JC emblems like Migmans, single leaf rear springs and a D30. Then again it's a 4 banger with 427 gears and maybe they didn't have any D44 carries for 427 gears so they threw in a D30. Hard to say what they were up to back then.

So when was your 70 Manufactured? Mine was Feb 1970, and it has refectors on the fenders....If your has reflectors on the hood, and it's a 70, then it possibly was built in late 69?

Are they just reflectors or actually lights in the fender?

Mine was probably one of the first 70 verts built. The build date on mine is September. The original owner ordered it August 8th for delivery on approximately September 1st. On October 10th it was finally picked up by her at the dealer.

I have not read every reply here, but it looks like a factory reflector to me. There's got to be a year or two between '67 and '70 where the fender did not have the dent with the light but Jeep put a reflector on the hood. A similar reflector was used on CJs IIRC. The CJ one would have to have a different angle though, due to the shape of the hood. This one appears to be parallel with the long axis of the car, as it should be.

Sorry for the confusion, they're actually lights.

...And I can't believe that someone who ordered a jeep vert could wait 40 days to pick it up!!!!

She was an older lady, wasn't in any particular hurry :). Only reason she got a 70 was because they couldn't locate a 69 for her.

4th. The guy I bought it from never drove it and the guy he bought it from inherited it from his cousin and he drove it very little.

Its nice having the story behind your rig, I have the beginning of the story on mine, but there is a big gap in the middle. I have tracked down the original owner, but he is in a senior's complex and not easily accessable, hopefully I can make some arrangements before its too late. He was a professional Wrestler, my Jeep was even used to drive one of the big name local wrestlers into the stadium and right up to the ring.
