I've been wondering...does anyone know what type of paint Willys used in the 1950s? Ford and Chrysler were using acrylic enamel, GM was using nitrocellulose lacquer until 1956 when they switched to an acrylic lacquer... Given the utilitarian nature of a Jeep, I'm guessing they were using an acrylic enamel but does anyone know for sure? I'm just wondering more out of curiosity than anything else. When I go to paint mine, I'm thinking it's probably going to get a coat of catalyzed acrylic enamel. I've debated a base/clear finish, but they look different that a straight enamel...more shiny, or almost "wet". Not original, but everyone uses BC/CC on their old stuff now days. They do look nice though :) . I don't know...it's all academic at this point. My tub is sitting in my garage buried behind a bunch of stuff, and it's going to be...well, a while before I can get to it  .

Since I'm doing a stock resto, I'll probably go with the original dark green. Red is by far my favorite color, but just to keep it original I'll probably just go with green. It's funny though...I love red, but I've only had 2 red cars. I've had 7 white ones  .
