Most of the wires are 16 but the headlight wires are 14 and the ignition feed, headlight switch feed and amp guage wires are 12. Simple EZWIRE kits are actually a pretty good way to go unless you are going to wire several Jeeps where buying rolls of wire would pay off down the road.

The main advantage of the hot rod harness - they give you lots of different colors of wire. If you had to buy a spool of each color, it would end up much more expensive than the harness kit.

Another option is to strip wire out of a wreck. That is a good way to get lots of different colors of wire. However, in my experience, the local pick-a-part may want an exorbitant price for harness pieces, even for raw wire. Sometimes they are reasonable, sometimes not. Maybe if you found someone parting out a car locally, you could make a deal for all the wiring at a bargain price.

Walck's harnesses are kind of pricey but I put in my '57. Everything terminated correctly. All the right length and simple to follow instructions. I had a helper and start to finish in 2 1/2 hours. Very clean installation and worked perfect first time.
